A new poster released for Netflix’s Death Note adaptation has been unveiled. Featuring the prodigy detective, L, the new poster gives us a better look at the character from the upcoming series.

Standing in front of a stark white background L stands staring out towards the viewer. This poster helps to show to tone that director Adam Wingard is trying to capture in the adaptation.

The new movie is going to adapt the manga into a new story. A previously revealed trailer showed us a different Death Note then what fans might have expected.

Featuring a racially diverse cast, fantastic set pieces, and differences in plot Netflix’s Death Note looks to be a fresh take on the tale of Light and L’s chess game.

For readers unfamiliar with the series, Death Note, follows a high school student who happens to find the notebook of a god of death. By inscribing a person’s name into the pages of the notebook. the author can cause the death of a person. Drunk on his new found power the high school boy begins his quest to rid the world of evil and injustice. Luckily, a genius detective will try to put a stop to the killings and to bring the murderer to justice.

With Adam Wingard of Blair Witch fame directing the movie and featuring talents such as Nat Wolff, Margaret Qualley, Lakeith Stanfield and Willem Dafoe as the voice of Ryuk. Netflix’s Death Note is setting itself up to be a knockout summer thriller.

Announced back in April of 2016, fans have been waiting for the new adaptation to release. With snippets like these and a god of death on Twitter, fans have been teased about the show. As we previously reported, the show is getting a release August 25, exclusively on Netflix.
