VA-11 Hall-A Prologue Redux Coming to PC, Vita 1

Sukeban Games’ cyberpunk anime-inspired bartending visual novel VA-11 Hall-A was one of the biggest sleeper hits of 2016. Released on Steam, itch.io, GOG, Steam and Humble Bundle, the game was originally revealed through a Prologue demo available on itch.io. Now, VA-11 Hall-A is getting a “remastered” version of the prologue through the upcoming Prologue Redux release.

“Originally starring the grumpy veterinarian Betty, her personal Slave Boy Deal, and an army of dogs that gave Jill a mild PTSD (she actually just can’t stand dogs anymore, not really a PTSD), the Prologue episode was a small three-chapter release meant to be a test to gauge interest, get some money to fund development, and a bonus for pre-ordering all at the same time,” Sukeban explained on their blog. “We got tons of feedback that shaped the final product and it was key to our survival.”

After taking a break on VA-11 Hall-A to work on research for an unannounced upcoming project, the team decided to release Prologue Redux around the winter.  The Redux, which is in the QA stages as of Dec. 17, is going to be upgraded into the full release’s engine. “Prologue Redux will sport extra, never before seen content,” which Sukeban has yet to reveal. The update will be free for the base game and will playable from the main menu.

That’s not all, however. Wolfgame’s Wolfgang Wozniak is working on the official PlayStation Vita port of VA-11 Hall-A, and he confirmed that the Prologue Redux code will be available on Vita from the start. CGMagazine reached out to Wozniak to get his perspective on implementing the game into PlayStation Vita.

“I will be implementing this newly updated VA-11 HALL-A story into the main release of the game when it come out on PS Vita,” Wozniak said. “Sukeban Games will be sending me their updated codebase for me to do this with ease. I’m very happy to say that when VA-11 HALL-A releases on Vita, that it will be a very complete experience. We have a few other announcements to make in the future, so please keep an eye out for that! “

Both Sukeban Games and Wozniak have teased that VA-11 Hall-A news is in the works soon, including the game’s official release in Japan. Check back as more content hits the game over the next couple months, and keep an eye out for official news on Sukeban’s next project.
