Terry Pratchett's The Wee Free Men Feature Film Announced 1

Prepare for a journey to the Discworld, as The Jim Henson Company have revealed today that development will soon begin on THE WEE FREE MEN, the 30th novel in the late Terry Pratchett’s legendary Discworld series.

The job of penning the children’s book into a big screen production falls on none other than Pratchett’s daughter Rhianna Pratchett. She is an award-winning writer who has worked on a number of projects including Overload, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Heavenly Sword. Rhianna is also co-director of independent production company Narrativia, which is partnering with The Jim Henson Company on the film.

“I’ve loved the Jim Henson Company’s work all my life, so it’s a great honor to team up with them and bring Wee Free Men to the big screen,” said writer Rhianna Pratchett in the post on the Narrativia website.

THE WEE FREE MEN is the first Discworld book to feature Tiffany Aching, a young witch armed with a frying pan who teams up with the local Nac Mac Feegles, aka the Wee Free Men. They are described as “a clan of fierce, sheep-stealing, sword-wielding, six-inch-high blue men.” Together, they will take on nightmarish forces including headless horsemen, ferocious grimhounds, and ultimately the powerful Queen.

There is currently no release date at this time.
