Ever since news first broke of a movie adaptation for Stephen King’s legendary Dark Tower series, fans and curious people alike have been itching for any bit of news about the film they can get their hands on. This is their lucky week as the Mail Online has published the first batch of images from the set of The Gunslinger.
Elba, (Luther, Thor) is seen in the photos sporting western-style garb, including dark jeans, a white shirt, a red scarf, and a belt holding bullets and a gun holster. He was spotted arriving in South Africa on Tuesday, where the film is currently being shot.
The Gunslinger is the first in Stephen King’s eight-book series called The Dark Tower. Elba stars as Roland Deschain, the last surviving gunslinger, who is searching for the Dark Tower so that he may right the wrongs of his land. Matthew McConaughey stars as Walter Padick, a.k.a The Man in Black, a terrifying sorcerer who goes up against Deschain.
A TV spin-off series is also reportedly in the works. The film is currently set to release on February 23, 2017.
