2K Games just officially announced that “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey will make her console video game debut in WWE 2K19.
Rousey is not only a WWE Superstar and UFC Hall of Famer, but also a Olympic medalist and feature film actress. Also known as the ‘Baddest Woman on the Planet,’ she has given the WWE Universe attention after her surprise appearance in Royal Rumble 2018.
Her explosive presence after her WrestleMania 34 debut match only propelled her to now be a playable character in WWE 2K19. In the game, she will be equipped with her signature ring outfit inspired by the “Rowdy” Roddy Piper.
As part of 2K’s marketing campaign trailer for the announcement, Piper praised Rousey for her WWE 2K19 arrival “As a WWE Superstar, having support from the Piper family means everything to me,” Rousey said.
“It’s an honor to be part of WWE 2K19 and have my name mentioned alongside so many important Superstars in WWE history, including Rey Mysterio, Kurt Angle, Ultimate Warrior, Sting, and Goldberg.”
While anyone can call themselves ‘Rowdy,’ it takes a talented and dedicated individual to live up to the name.
“My dad saw it in Ronda, and so do we. She is truly ‘Rowdy to the core,’ and that mindset really comes through in the trailer for WWE 2K19,” Colt Toombs, the son of Piper said.
Chris Snyder, the vice president of marketing at 2K, agreed that Rousey is a fantastic addition to WWE 2K19, because of what she and her dedication represents.
“From an Olympic tatami to the UFC Octagon to the WWE ring, Ronda is a one-of-a-kind athlete and incredible ambassador for career and life empowerment,” Snyder said.
“Her discipline, determination and attitude toward accomplishing her goals and silencing her critics make her the perfect embodiment of WWE 2K19’s ‘Never Say Never’ global marketing campaign. We are thrilled to welcome Ronda to the WWE 2K family and can’t wait to see what’s in store for her in the years to come.”
Alongside Rey Mysterio, Rousey will be available as bonus pre-order content. WWE 2K19 is scheduled for release on Oct. 9, and early access players will get their copies and in-game bonuses on Oct. 5.
