The global gaming headset market is booming, thanks to the growth of eSports. Analysts at Technavio predict the market will grow at a compound annual growth rate of over 7 per cent between now and 2022.
“ESports have turned online gaming into a spectator sport,” said a senior analyst at Technavio. “It is like watching a professional event, with the difference being that instead of a physical sport, the viewers pay to watch gamers competing against each other. With the increasing popularity of eSports, the gaming headset manufacturers are increasingly customizing their products keeping eSport gamers in mind.”
The report also said the audience of gaming headsets are tech-savvy and want products with advanced features. Therefore, manufacturers who want to stay ahead of their competitors should be aiming to update their products.
This report stemmed from research into different platforms where gaming headsets are used. These include PC, Mac, and console gaming headsets used in the key regions of the Americas, Asia-Pacific, as well as Europe, Middle East, and Africa. Some of the companies involved in the research include Razer, Corsair, and Turtle Beach.
