Dawn of War III Announced With a Brutal Trailer 2

Sega announced Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War III via a trailer posted on Dawn of War’s YouTube channel.

The trailer doesn’t feature gameplay, but features a cinematic take on the ongoing war between the Eldar, Orks and the Imperium.

“This is the Dawn of War that fans have been waiting for,” said Dawn of War III executive producer Stephen MacDonald. “Our biggest units ever? Check. Giant orbital lasers? Check. Base-building, epic heroes, huge battles, it’s all in there. Get ready for the biggest Dawn of War yet. For the Emperor!”

The game’s predecessor, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II, launched to critical acclaim back in 2009.

Relic General Manager Justin Dowdeswell outlined that this first trailer for Dawn of War III is only the beginning: “This announcement is a big moment for all of us at Relic, and at SEGA. We’re setting the bar for what we can achieve, and showing players what they can expect from us in the future. This is just the beginning.”

The announcement keeps us in the dark about launch scheduling and release platforms, but a PC release is guaranteed, given the game’s Steam page.

According to the Steam page, players can “control of towering war machines and tip the balance of battle in your favour with the biggest characters in Dawn of War history,” such as the Eldar Wraithknight, the Ork’s Gorkanaut or the Space Marine’s Imperial Knight.

Players will also be able to deploy powerful and collectible “elite squads”, each boasting its own special abilities and bonuses.

Super-abilities, another new addition, allows players to “rain down total destruction on [their] enemies” with massively powerful attacks such as the Space Marine’s Orbital Bombardment, the Eldar’s Eldritch Storm and the Ork’s Rokks.

Not much else is known about Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III, but we’ll keep you posted as soon as more details surface.
